Branding & Logos

Brand – a name, term, design, symbol or any other feature that identifies one seller’s good or service as distinct from those of other sellers. (Wikipedia)

Ben and I see “brand” as much more than that. When you think of an organization or product, how do you feel? What else does it make you think of? Brand is about memory. Brand is about experience. Brand is about emotion. It’s like the heart and soul of your company. When you think of an organization or product, how do you feel? What else does it make you think of?

When I see that handwritten red, I think of bottles and straws as a kid, or polar bears at Christmas… When I see the golden arches, I think of fries and road trips with my family…. When I see that apple, I think of omnipresence, connection and quality…You get where I’m going with this!

We like the way Jeff Bezos, CEO and founder of Amazon puts it: Your brand is what other people say about you when you’re not in the room.

So… what do people say about you?

Logo – a graphic mark, emblem, or symbol used to aid and promote public identification and recognition. It may be of an abstract or figurative design or include the text of the name it represents as in a wordmark. (Wikipedia)

Your logo is the visual representation of your brand. If it’s a good one, it’s recognizable and memorable and works in many forms (e.g., on a hat, your website, a pen, a business card…). A professional, high quality logo makes your business look, well, professional and high quality!

Does your logo reflect your best side? Does it fit your industry? How does it look amidst your competitors? Your current and prospective clients? Does it grab peoples’ attention? Does it make a strong impression? Does it reflect your brand?

If your industry has changed, it may be time for a new look. If you’ve expanded your business to include new services, it may be time for a change.  Ben and I have done everything from brand and logo refreshes that help share an established story with an expanded audience that requires new media (see Mine Supply’s story) to ground-up brand and logo development (see Chase 14 and Kahkewistahaw). Our brand exploration involves a detailed investigation of your company, an industry survey of clients and competitors, and a strategy session with you and your team.

What’s your story? We listen, learn and create, working with you to ensure your brand is where it needs to be, and that your logo is doing its job the way it should.
